Candidate 2. This is a two level layout with two staging yards with capacilities for two and three trains respectively. The station is between these yards.

The main advantage of this layout is that a much more interesting traffic patterns become possible. Also, it should be possible to create a second station on the upper level. This layout would be more challenging to construct. Layout will fit on my existing 4ft by 10ft table.
